Cheryl Cundiff Crane, 1st grade teacher;
I have completed the following degrees after high school: Associate of Arts in Christian Education from Kentucky Mountain Bible College, Bachelor of Arts in English Secondary Education from Asbury College, Planned 5th year/Elementary Endorsement from the University of Kentucky, and Masters of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington. I have completed several continuing education classes including ones focused on meeting individual student needs, using technology effectively in the classroom, teaching reading to beginning learners, and guided math.
I began my teaching career by teaching K-4 for three and a half years at a parochial child care center in Lexington, Kentucky. I then substitute taught (including four long-term maternity leave experiences) for two years and taught full-time first grade for two more years in Berkeley County, South Carolina.
For fifteen years, I was privileged to teach at Sand Ridge Elementary in Onslow County, North Carolina. I am certified to be a mentor teacher and have served in that capacity for four beginning teachers.
In the 2013-2014 school year I was very happy to join the staff of Northwoods Elementary's new magnet school of innovation and technology. I believe that the year-round format and the amazing staff here are providing an effective combination with which to meet student needs.
