Batchelor Degree: UNCW 2000

Master Degree: UNCW 2009

My teaching experience started at Richland's Elementary school in 2000. I taught Kindergarten my first year and loved it! Richland's Primary openend in 2001 and I was fortunate enough to be selected to be among the staff that began teaching when those doors opened. I taught Kindergarten and 2nd grade there until 2009. That is the year Stateside Elementary opened, and again, it was my good fortune to be selected among the staff to open that amazing Impact School of National Pride. I taught Kindergarten there until 2012 when I applied to become an Instructional coach for Onslow County. I was blessed to be selected to work with an amazing team of people and worked as an Instructional Coach for the next 4 years in several different schools.

I knew I was missing something in my experience so I decided to go back into the classroom and gain that experience of teaching a testing grade. I am now a 3rd grade teacher at Northwoods Elementary, gaining that experience I did not have prior to this year.

I was born and raised in California. I lived in Racho Cucamonga, California before joining the Marine Corps in 1984 after graduating from high school in 1983. After graduating from USMC bootcamp I was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. I have spent every year since 1984 here except for 1 that was spent in Okinawa, Japan. While in the Marine Corps I was a Motor Transport Operator, Ambulance Driver and an Instructor. I enjoyed my time on active duty very much, however, I was medically discharged in 1991. I had started my college education while on active duty and continued the pursuit of a degree after being honorably discharged.

I am a stepmom to 2 wonderful boys and I gave birth to one amazing boy. All of these boys have grown to be fabulous men and the older two have blessed me with grandchildren. Being a "GMa" is the best thing in the world.

I graduated from UNCW in 2000 and started teaching that same year in Onslow County. I have been teaching in this county ever since.
